Minnesota Marine Art Museum volunteers love art and people. Volunteers serve as ambassadors to welcome and engage all Museum visitors. MMAM is committed to supporting volunteers, to creating opportunities for community investment and maintaining organizational transparency.
Become a Greeter/Gallery Attendant
Greeters and Gallery Attendants make the Minnesota Marine Art Museum a warm, inviting and safe place. As a vital part of the MMAM's operation, these volunteers commonly answer basic questions about the Museum or artworks within, and ensure the safety of artworks and visitors.
Docents are specially-trained volunteers who facilitate tour experiences for visiting groups of students and adults. MMAM docents use inquiry, discussion and interactive strategies to help people make personal connections with art as they learn. All docents complete a training program and attend monthly meetings. Anyone who can learn, speak, and is open to working with diverse groups of people can be a certified Museum tour guide. Becoming a MMAM docent is an experience that can enhance the life of the individual as well as those engaged in a tour.
*The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is now accepting docent applications for the upcoming new training class starting in February 2018. We have had increased demand from schools to bring their students, and we are excited to welcome new docents into our treasured group of committed docents. Click "Become a Docent" above to apply.
Become a Family Program Assistant
The MMAM is a family friendly art museum and organizes dozens of family learning experiences each year. Family Program Assistants do a variety of things for the Museum's Toddler Tuesdays, its Family Storytelling, its annual Family Fest and many other events. Family Program
Assistants and the events that they help facilitate at the Museum provide vital meaningful opportunities for area families through art.
Thank you for considering becoming a MMAM volunteer.
