Battle of The Brushes

Please join the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and Island City Brewing Company for a fast-paced, live painting showdown! 

Battle of the Brushes is a live art tournament, generously sponsored by the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and hosted by Island City Brewing Company. Proceeds go to the artists themselves and to the Winona Women's Resource Center . 

All artists at any skill level are invited to apply to compete in this quick-fire, real-time painting competition. Rounds lasting 20 minutes each are observed by by attendees, who then vote on their favorites. Winners of each bout advance to the next round, until a Battle of the Brushes champion is crowned. Grand prize for the Battle of Brushes winner include a gift basket worth over $300 and bragging rights as the Battle of the Brushes champion! Attendees will enjoy seeing art created right before their eyes, a live DJ, and Island City brews.

There will be a small suggested donation at the door, which will benefit the Winona Women's Resource Center. Please join MMAM for this fast-paced, raucous (yet family-friendly) event supporting local artists as well as a local charity. Attendees will have the chance to purchase their favorite pieces of art in silent auction format. Art sales will benefit both the artist and the Women's Resource Center. You won't want to miss out on this exciting holiday event!

Artists will be provided with paint, canvas, easel, and paper towels. Artists must bring their own painting tools. NO mechanical tools are allowed (e.g., spray bottles, airbrushes, etc.) Rounds will be timed (20 minutes). An MC will announce time warnings. All painting MUST STOP once the round is over. Artists may bring headphones to listen to their own audio if they wish. There is no fee to for artist registration, but entrants will be limited! WE HAVE REACHED CAPACITY FOR ARTISTS
