Valor in Marine Art
Heroism, or valor, has long been a topic of inspiration for artists, especially within the marine art tradition. Within this tradition, artists commonly depict portraits of famous ships, notable naval battles, historic shipwrecks and the heroism of survival, as well as overcoming the dangers of everyday seafaring life. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum has a tremendous collection of artworks in this vein.
For two months of the opening of this inspiring exhibition, visitors also get a chance to see its partner exhibition, Photography by Cameron Glendenning: The Deadliest Catch.
