Doug Troke: MMAM Supporter

My name is Doug Troke and I am a proud sponsor of Bingo Overboard which is held during the Second Saturday program each month at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. My wife and I are from Winona and have two children, ages 9 and 7. We enjoy helping out in the community and at our children's school.

I became involved with the Minnesota Marine Art Museum when my family attended one of the first Second Saturday events and saw how much our children enjoyed each of the galleries, not to mention the craft room. It was a great opportunity to spend time together while looking at amazing art pieces from around the world. The employees and volunteers are very helpful and answer any questions we may have or provide more detail about the works that are there. It is eye opening to look at the same painting during different visits and see something new in it that we have not seen before. Also, we have learned a little about history, both near and far.

We continue to go back to visit the museum as much as possible, especially when a new exhibit arrives. When I heard about the new exhibit featuring dogs underwater, I was not sure what to expect. However, after seeing it, it is amazing how they are able to capture each one.

On a recent visit to the Twin Cities, we were talking with a gentleman that asked where we were from. When we said Winona, his initial response was that we have a world renowned art gallery that many people do not know even exists. He said he tries to come down at least a couple times each year to visit it. I encourage you to visit the museum to see what a treasure we do have right here in Winona.

I hope to see you there!
