Feel the Rhythm
Saturday, May 14 | 10am - 5pm
Join the Minnesota Marine Art Museum on May 14th for the second Seasonal Saturday of 2022, featuring $1 admission and special themed activities based on the theme, “Feel the Rhythm” inspired by MMAM's exhibition, Sonja Peterson: What the Trade Winds Brought.
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
$1 admission; [members and children 4 and under are always free]
Artist demonstration by Sonja Peterson (fine paper cutting) from 1- 3pm.
Live music from jazz guitarists Liberty Kohn and Lee Windsperger from 11am- Noon.
Live music from Winds of Winona, a clarinet ensemble, from 3-4pm.
30-minute MMAM Highlights tour of select pieces in the European and American exhibitions at 10:15am, 12:15pm, 2:15pm, and 4:15pm.
30-minute In the Groove tour to explore the visual rhythm represented in select artworks on exhibition at 11:15am, 1:15pm, and 3:15pm.
"Super Awesome Storytelling!" Join our resident storytelling artist, Laura Armstrong, for a special story time session. All ages welcome! 10:30am, 11:00am, 11:30am.
Paper luminary art-making activity for all ages and abilities. (all day)
Bingo Overboard: search-and-find gallery game for a prize. (all day)
Apothik Food Truck onsite from 11am- 2pm. Food can be enjoyed on MMAM’s riverwalk patio.
Teaching artists from Winona's own Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts will lead music-making activities at select times between 10am and 2pm.
Project FINE will provide Spanish and Hmong interpreters from 10am- 1pm.
Free transportation
Free transportation to and from the Minnesota Marine Art Museum is available through Winona Area Transit Service’s Dial-A-Ride. Call 507-454-6666 to schedule your ride a few days before you plan to visit, and MMAM will pay your fare upon arrival and provide you with return fare.
