Off the Wall Marine Art
October 19, 2013 - March 21, 2014
Off the Wall Marine Art features a variety of surprising, unique, and inspiring two- and three-dimensional works of maritime art history spanning several centuries. Highlights include ship models made by Napoleonic War prisoners, historic ship portraits painted on an ostrich egg (pictured), as well as "woolies," which are intricate historic textiles made by sailors. Also featured are original oil paintings that were reproduced on book and magazine covers and postage stamps, as well as finely crafted silver yachting trophies.
