Around a cliff, a river flows into view. In the backgorund, blue bluffs rise into the sky from a forested river shore

River Sojourn

A Painter's Portfolio of the Mississippi River Blufflands

March 7, 2014 - May 11, 2014

River Sojourn features the work of Minnesota artist Sara Lubinski, whose work draws inspiration from the Upper Mississippi River region and the romanticism of the Hudson River School painters.

A former botanist, Lubinski had the opportunity to spend many years gaining a better scientific understanding of the Mississippi River environment and its unique ecology. Today, however, it is the beauty of the Upper Mississippi where Lubinski currently draws her inspiration. River Sojourn has been years in the making; an opportunity for Lubinski to work with land owners and nature preserves, discovering fascinating places to draw, paint and write. River Sojourn is a project in collaboration between the artist and the MMAM, the Bell Museum of Natural History (Minneapolis, MN), Cascade Meadow Wetlands & Environmental Science Center (Rochester, MN) and others. The result will be a regionally traveling exhibition.
